Einsteinium (Es) is a synthetic chemical element with atomic number 99. It is named after the prominent physicist Albert Einstein.

Einsteinium was first discovered after the American hydrogen bomb test explosion in 1952. It has no particular industrial application, and is mainly used for creating even heavier elements in scientific experiments.
