Platinum (Pt) is a metallic chemical element with atomic number 76. There are several naturally occurring platinum isotopes but the most abundant ones are 194Pt and 195Pt.
Just like palladium, platinum is primarily used in the catalytic converters of cars, which remove pollutants and toxic gases from the exhaust gas. However, since it's a very rare, shiny and valuable metal, platinum is also used as jewellery. It is one of the precious metals.
