Platinum (Pt) is a metallic chemical element with atomic number 76. There are several naturally occurring platinum isotopes but the most abundant ones are ¹⁹⁴Pt and ¹⁹⁵Pt.

Just like palladium, platinum is primarily used in the catalytic converters of cars, which remove pollutants and toxic gases from the exhaust gas. However, since it's a very rare, shiny and valuable metal, platinum is also used as jewellery. It is one of the precious metals.
