Cobalt (Co) is a chemical element with atomic number 27. It is used to form very strong alloys with other metals, and also used in lithium-ion batteries as the compound lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2). Historically it was mainly used as a pigment.
The only stable cobalt isotope is 59Co, with 27 protons and 32 neutrons.
