Bohrium (Bh) is a synthetic chemical element with atomic number 107. It is a very radioactive element, with all its known isotopes having short half-lives.
Bohrium is named after the Danish physicist Niels Bohr, who received the Nobel Prize in 1922. He is most famous for introducing the Bohr Model describing the structure of atoms. His model stated that atoms have a nucleus of protons, surrounded by electrons orbiting in discrete levels, as seen in the electron shell illustration above. Even if there are some unaccuracies and shortcomings to his model, it is still considered fairly correct to this day.
