Francium (Fr) is a chemical element with atomic number 87. It is a very rare element, and also very radioactive, with a half-life of only 22 minutes. It decays into astatine, radium, and radon.

Francium belongs to a group of elements called Alkali Metals, together with lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and caesium.
