Radon (Rn) is a chemical element with atomic number 86. It belongs to the group of elements called noble gases. Just like other noble gases, radon is not very reactive.

Radon is a short-lived radioactive element which ultimately decays into lead. Radon gas is toxic when breathed in, and radon poisoning is estimated to be the second most common cause of lung cancer, after cigarette smoking.
