Meitnerium (Mt) is a synthetic chemical element with atomic number 109. Just like the other synthetic elements, it is not found in nature, but has to be created articifially in lab. After it is created, it still only lasts a couple of seconds due to its very short half-life.
Meitnerium is named after physicist Lise Meitner, one of the discoverers of protactinium and nuclear fission.
