Darmstadtium (Ds) is a synthetic chemical element with atomic number 110. It is named after the German city Darmstadt, which is the location of the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, where the element was first discovered. In fact, the elements bohrium, meitnerium, hassium, roentgenium and copernicium were also discovered there.
Darmstadtium is created through the collision of lead and nickel atoms.
